The Story of Raqqia Kashif
I am Raqqia Kashif, and my husband, Kashif Gulzar, was arrested in March 2014 in connection with a bomb blast in Youhanabad, Lahore, Pakistan. Since his arrest, life has been incredibly challenging for me and our 9-year-old son, Jabran Kashif.
Kashif was our sole provider, and his absence has left us in dire financial straits. Relatives have distanced themselves from us, fearing requests for financial support. My father, a laborer, contributes a small amount, but it is not enough to cover our basic needs. As a result, I am unable to pay for Jabran’s school fees, so he is not attending school.
Every day, I feel the weight of my husband’s absence. My son often asks when he will be able to return to school and when his father will come home. I have no answers for him. At times, we have to go to bed hungry.
Jabran Kashif’s Perspective
I am Jabran Kashif, 9 years old. I used to go to school, but since my father’s arrest, my mother says we do not have the money for my school fees. She tells me that my father is in jail and does not know when he will return. I miss school and love studying.
Request for Assistance
We are in urgent need of support. If there is anyone who can offer us compassion, moral encouragement, and financial assistance, it would greatly help relieve our suffering and support our family.
Shomeer Foundation’s Assessment
The Shomeer Foundation conducted an interview with Kashif Gulzar and his family to evaluate their situation. After thorough assessment, we have recognized their need for aid. Kashif Gulzar has been released from prison, but his family continues to receive support and rehabilitation from the Shomeer Foundation.
